What our carers say about fostering
What a foster carer does
“Well, being a foster carer is no different to being a normal mum in many respects but with all sorts of add ons!! The extra taxi trips, school runs, parent’s evenings, possibly arranging a school placement. Then there are the review meetings, medicals, placement reviews, keeping a daily diary log, possibly transporting to and from contact arrangements. There are also our own personal development requirements. Training at Chrysalis and support groups, monthly reports on each placement you have. These are all the technical bits, but most importantly, providing a safe, loving and stable environment with clear boundaries, where your foster child can learn to trust to love and be loved again.”

“We do everything; we’re doctors, nurses, psychiatrists and carers. At first I though it would just be caring but I found out that it was so much more. My horizons have been broadened by fostering and my eyes opened.”
