Who we are
Chrysalis Care Fostering Agency was established in 1997 and since then has continued to grow. We are very proud of the care, support and love that our carers have provided for many children and families over the years.
We believe that we offer our carers comprehensive support, training and advice but we also recognise that by listening to our carers we can learn a lot from their experiences.
Chrysalis Care aims to transform the lives of children and young people by the quality of care they receive in loving, caring families. Our goal is to bring together those children who either temporarily or permanently are unable to live with their natural family with well trained, well supported and well motivated carers who genuinely care about the wellbeing of children.
Chrysalis Care provides foster carers from a range of diverse ethnic, cultural and religious origins to meet the needs of all children. These carers are supported by a team of professional Social Workers, who also reflect a range of diverse cultural backgrounds. All the professionals working for Chrysalis Care have experience of working with children who have suffered neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Each Chrysalis Care carer has a supervising social worker who is responsible for providing the support for themselves and their family.
Chrysalis Care Foster carers provide many different forms of support to children and families. For example;
- Short to Medium term placements in caring families where social workers, parents and the foster carers can contribute to well thought out care plans for the children.
- Emergency placements on a 24 hour basis for families and children in crisis. Breakdowns at home or in other placements can sometimes happen suddenly leaving a social worker with a dilemma and very little time to solve it. Chrysalis care can ease these situations by providing family placements with foster carers whilst a resolution can be found.
- Long-term placements for children when it is clear that they will not be able to return to their family of origin. Children then need carers who can offer them a family until they become independent adults. These children need stability and security during the difficult process of growing up.
- Sibling Groups: As an organisation we do not like to see siblings separated when this is not part of a carefully thought out plan.
- Parent and baby Placements. The opportunity for a parent to reside within a family setting where they can recieve guidance and support in caring for themselves and their child.
- Respite Placements, Chrysalis Care foster carers also offer respite support to families. It may be that a placement is required for a child for weekends or during the school holidays. Sometimes a short break for everybody is all the support that is needed to keep a family together.
